WHY YOU CAN’T BEAT GOLDEN HOUR SESSIONS!

To say the weather on the east coast this summer has been a challenge is an understatement! I can’t remember an August as humid and wet as the one we had this year. Rescheduling sessions isn’t easy but it’s important to me that everyone feels comfortable during their session, including your photographer who doesn’t do well in humid weather!! Lots of calendar juggling went on for a few weeks but it was worth it when families, especially those with young kiddos, thanked me for not having to come out in the sticky heat.

Like many photographers, most of my sessions are scheduled during “Golden Hour” to capture the magical light before sunset and this session didn’t disappoint! The family traveled from Scarsdale to Rye for their session at Marshlands Conservancy and we had so much fun! The weather forecast was cloudy, which is also ideal light for photographers, but then the sun peeped out to say hello towards the end and I can’t get enough of the gorgeous colors.

When you book a family session with me you’ll receive a short questionnaire so I can get to know a little bit about you all before we meet, and find out if you have any specific hopes for your session images. This gorgeous Mom mentioned her youngest is very funny but has the shortest attention span, and that they have to remind the oldest not to pose and fake smile!

I love a challenge and the best way to capture authentic smiles and moments is to TRUST ME! It also helps that we have fun and that everyone is encouraged to be themselves. While the images were uploading to my computer ready for editing I read through those words again and laughed out loud because I think we nailed it!

And so now as much as I love the warmth and long days of summer months I have to say I’m excited for fall. I wonder if the colors will be as incredible as they were in 2020….
