Was anyone else worried when Facebook and Instagram disappeared recently? Did it make you think about how much you rely on these platforms to keep your memories ‘safe’, remember birthdays and special occasions? All those photo and video uploads, birthday and event reminders…..have you ever thought you might need to keep them backed up somewhere? It definitely took me by surprise and yes, I’m a photographer who keeps client session backups on site as well as off site, but never really thought about the personal stuff I was posting on the gram and Facebook!

Did you know that you can easily download ALL of your photos from Instagram and create photo books (suggest monthly) through Chatbooks? As for Facebook, did you know you can easily download your photo and videos and keep them backed up online?

It’s so easy and here’s how it works:

Go into your Facebook profile, click on the down arrow on the right and select ‘Settings & Privacy’

Click on ‘Settings’

Click on ‘Your Facebook Information’

Select ‘Transfer a Copy of Your Information’

Choose Destination for Transfer (copy) of data:

I save mine to my Dropbox account but there are various options.

Facebook will ask you to connect to the account you’re transferring the data to and it should be straightforward from here.

Depending on how many photos and/or videos you have it might take a while but I’m so glad mine are now backed up in another location!
